About Voss Cattle Co.

Several years ago, Tom and Gloria Voss purchased a few acres in the country and a few cows. With a little patience and a lot of hard work, they had built a small farm, uprooted their family and moved to New Baden, Texas.

Today at Voss Cattle, we’re raising premium pasture raised, grain finished Brangus beef, free of hormones, antibiotics and feed lots, and delivering it to your door. Currently we hand deliver sides and quarters to the Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Waco and East Texas areas.

We also ship monthly subscriptions of beef in the continental US via common carrier.

We sincerely appreciate your interest and your business and look forward to serving you for many years to come. Thank you for supporting these first generation Texas Ranchers.

About New Baden, Texas

New Baden is on U.S. Highway 79 four miles east of Franklin in central Robertson County. It was founded in 1881 by German immigrants under the auspices of the Texas Land and Immigration Company and was directed by trustees Matern Leber, J. G. Meyer, and A. B. Langerman. The colonizers first built a two-story structure known as the Immigrant House and later renamed the Colony House. The second floor housed immigrants until they could build their own residences, and the first floor was used for religious services and for school. New Baden opened a post office in 1882 and soon added a drugstore, a hotel, a church, and a railway station. The Meyer home, the first residence, housed that family, the post office, and a railway ticket office; it also served as a freight depot. In 1885 the New Baden population was forty; it increased to 175 by 1915. New Baden reported six businesses and a population of 150 in 1936. Today, the population still teeters around 150.

The New Baden General Store, established in 1884 is still in business today, serving delicious meals six days a week. You can also enjoy live music at the New Baden Jamboree, held on the first Saturday of every month. Be sure to stop in if you’re passing through.
